Dermal Filler - Everything you need to know.

What are dermal fillers and who is the treatment for?

Dermal fillers are a popular medical treatment commonly used to restore volume in the face while minimizing fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin. Dermal fillers use fine needles to administer a non-surgical injectable treatment. It’s a safe and effective way to achieve a more youthful, rejuvenated look.

With age, there is decreased production of collagen and loss of bone which appears as volume loss in our face.  Dermal fillers will add volume to areas of bone loss and stimulate the production of collagen, promoting tighter and firmer skin naturally. If you’re looking for any of the following benefits, dermal fillers may be the perfect solution for you:

  • Midface, cheek or ponytail lift

  • Softening of nasolabial folds

  • Gentle lip enhancement for shape and volume

  • Greater definition of your jawline or jawline contouring

  • Tear trough softening to target tired-looking eyes

  • Chin reshaping or augmentation

Will it enhance natural beauty?

When treating our patients, we aim for a natural appearance that will leave you looking refreshed in every way. Therefore, it’s crucial to find a certified professional to help you reach your goals when opting for dermal fillers. An experienced professional will assess your facial structure and condition, focusing on the target areas with a minimal number of injections used.

Typically, our popular treatments include a midface lift, refresh, ponytail lift, tear trough for tired-looking eyes, softened marionette lines, jawline contouring, nasolabial folds, and dermal fillers for lips to add volume and definition while maintaining natural-looking results. To limit discomfort for our patients, for lips we use a topical anesthetic.

Why are dermal fillers an effective treatment for fine lines and wrinkles?

As we age, our faces naturally lose fat, and the skin stretches over time. Wrinkles and fine lines start to appear, the skin slowly begins to sag and elements out of our control, such as sun exposure, will negatively impact the appearance of our delicate skin. When you receive dermal fillers, we focus on gentle enhancement and reshaping areas of your face, such as your cheeks, chin, and lips, for a full, more youthful look – minus the wrinkles.

What can I expect when I book a treatment?

Depending on the area of treatment, the procedure can take anywhere between 30-60 minutes, with results showing up best within 48 hours. Since this is a gentle process, it is perfectly acceptable to go back to your normal activities immediately following the procedure. We do recommend waiting a few hours before applying makeup or rubbing the injection sites, to reduce redness or bruising.

The effects of dermal fillers generally last between 6 to 12 months, around which time we recommend coming in for a routine appointment. If you wish to keep up the natural-looking results of our dermal filler treatment, you’ll want to maintain a regular appointment schedule with us.

If you have any questions about dermal fillers or would like to know more, please contact us and we’ll be happy to discuss your personal needs and potential treatment possibilities.
