What is Botox and who is it for?

Botox is a widespread medical treatment commonly used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Botox injections use botulinum toxin to temporarily paralyze muscles in the face. It’s a safe and effective way to achieve a more refined, refreshed look you’ll love.

Since Botox has been approved for cosmetic use in 2001, it has helped millions of patients achieve their beauty goals and helped in the treatment of unpleasant medical conditions. Conditions such as chronic migraines, TMJ pain, muscle contractures, eye twitching and excessive sweating.

Will it create a “frozen” look or will it enhance natural beauty?

When treating our patients, we aim for a natural appearance that will leave you looking refreshed.  It is important to us that you maintain a natural appearance. Therefore, it’s crucial to find a certified professional to help you reach your goals when opting for Botox injections. An experienced professional will assess your facial structure and muscle movements and address the target areas in a balanced way to ensure your natural beauty is enhanced.

The most common areas to treat include Crow’s Feet (eye corners), Glabella (angry lines) and Frontalis (forehead wrinkles), although we do offer more advanced techniques as well. Most patients experience minimal discomfort, as the procedure involves the use of a very thin needle to inject small amounts of the drug into the focus areas.

Why is Botox an effective treatment for fine lines and wrinkles?

As we age, daily repetitive muscle movements to create our facial expressions result in the development of facial lines and wrinkles.  As we frown, laugh, raise our eyebrows, and so on, fine lines start to form on our forehead and around our eyes. With age and repetition, these lines become increasingly noticeable. When you receive Botox injections, targeted facial muscles are temporarily relaxed to soften these fine lines and wrinkles.  Repeated Botox injections can sometimes significantly soften these lines and can even make wrinkles disappear!

What can I expect when I book a treatment?

Treatments only take around 10-15 minutes, with results beginning to show up four or five days after the procedure. The Peak effect is usually seen after 10-12 days and the effect will last up to three or four months.  Since this is a gentle process with minimal pain or marks left on the skin, it is perfectly acceptable to go back to your normal activities immediately following the procedure. Twenty minutes after the procedure nobody will be able to tell that you had a treatment.  You can even return to work or attend meetings right away!  To maintain the look, we recommend repeating the treatment every three to four months. If you wish to keep up the natural-looking results of our Botox treatment, you’ll want to maintain a regular appointment schedule with us.

If you have any questions about Botox or would like to know more, please contact us and we’ll be happy to discuss your personal needs and potential treatment possibilities.
